Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the Operating Room team. You’ll anticipate instruments, prepare supplies, and act as the surgeon’s right hand during procedures.

This role emphasizes patient safety, sterile field management, and accurate counts of instruments and sponges from incision to closure, with Day shifts and PRN as noted.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date or transfer date required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• NBSTSA Surgical Tech credential required prior to hire/transfer date. Non-certified applicants must have 18 months of CST experience in the past 3 years or meet grandfathering provisions.

Responsibilities

• Act as the right hand to surgeons by anticipating instrument and supply needs before requests.
• Ensure patient safety through precise positioning, draping, and sterile technique during procedures.
• Maintain 100% accuracy in instrument and sponge counts and uphold the sterile field from incision to closure.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
