Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the Obstetrics Operating Room. You will act as the right hand to surgeons, ensuring instruments and supplies are ready and that sterility and patient safety are maintained throughout procedures.

The role requires BLS within 30 days and NBSTSA or NCCT credentialing prior to hire, plus a high school diploma or equivalent and related experience. Weekend FT schedule and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Surgical Tech credential from NBSTSA or NCCT required before hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons by ensuring the exact instrument or supply is ready before it's requested.
• Position patient and drape to maintain safety, dignity, and clinical excellence during the procedure.
• Maintain sterile field and achieve 100% accuracy in instrument and sponge counts as the final safety check.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.
    • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
