Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN, seeks a Surgical Tech for the Operating Room Obstetrics department. Schedule: Nights l PRN.

You will partner closely with surgeons, ensure instruments are ready, and uphold patient safety throughout procedures. Minimum requirements include BLS, NBSTSA Surgical Tech credential, and relevant experience; a high school equivalency or higher degree is needed with several years of cumulative experience depending on certification status.

Qualifications

• BLS within 1 month of hire date or transfer date; AHA or Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credential from NBSTSA obtained prior to hire date or transfer date; Tennessee TN statute applies for non-certified applicants.
• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Intuitive Surgical Partnership: act as the right hand to surgeons by anticipating moves and ensuring instruments/supplies are ready.
• Patient Advocacy in Motion: safeguard patient journey with precise positioning, draping, safety, and dignity during procedures.
• Guardian of Accuracy: maintain 100% accuracy in instrument and sponge counts, ensuring patient safety from incision to closure.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
