Job summary

Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Illinois is seeking an Operating Room Scrub Technician who provides sterile instrument prep, maintains a sterile field, and assists surgeons during procedures.

You will support sterile processing, ensure instruments are cleaned and stored properly, and help keep the OR clean between cases, demonstrating professionalism and teamwork in a patient‑centered environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program and valid Illinois RN license.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • 2–3 years nursing experience and EHR familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Scrub for assigned surgical cases and assist with instrumentation and supplies.
  • Maintain sterile environment and assist surgeons during procedures.
  • Clean, wrap, sterilize, and distribute instruments; support sterile processing.
  • Ensure reusable equipment is properly prepared for clinical units.
  • Collaborate with team and take on additional tasks as needed.

Job description

NATURE OF WORKFairfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled and detail oriented Operating Room Scrub Technician to support safe, efficient, and high‑quality surgical care. The Scrub Technician functions as a key member of the surgical team by preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies; maintaining a sterile environment; and assisting surgeons during operative and invasive procedures. This role also supports Sterile Processing functions, ensuring surgical instrumentation is properly cleaned, sterilized, stored, and distributed according to established standards.
