Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Respiratory Therapist at St. Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. The role involves day-shift, part-time work within the Respiratory Therapy department, providing assessments and individualized treatment plans with care team collaboration.

The position requires Wisconsin licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, BLS, and preferred ALS/PALS; neonatal resuscitation is a plus. Expect work with respiratory equipment and patient education as core responsibilities.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credential from Wisconsin board required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
• Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Assess patients with respiratory conditions and develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis and clinical needs.
• Provide and monitor respiratory therapies, administer medications, and communicate patient progress to the care team.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory health, treatment plans, and available community resources.
• Maintain respiratory equipment and supplies, and respond to emergency and resuscitation situations as needed.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
