Job summary

Ascension in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join the Columbia St. Mary’s Respiratory Therapy team. The role involves clinical assessment, patient monitoring, education, and equipment management on a day shift.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans, respond to emergencies, and support patients and families with treatment and resources. Minimum requirements include BLS, RCP credential, and ACLS/PALS preferred, with Ascension

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board before hire date.
• Advanced Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
• Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred from AAP.

• Clinical Assessment & Planning: Evaluate patient needs to develop and adjust comprehensive care plans and respiratory modalities.
• Patient Monitoring & Emergency Response: Continuously monitor patient conditions and respond to emergencies.
• Education & Support: Educate patients and families on health conditions and medications.
• Equipment & Inventory Management: Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment and manage supply levels.

• Equipment & Inventory Management: Oversee the calibration, sterilization, and maintenance of all respiratory equipment while managing departmental inventory and supply levels.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
