Job summary

UC San Diego Health seeks a Certified Phlebotomy Technician to perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, and related clerical duties in a fast-paced environment at our La Jolla site. Must hold a California CPT license and have 1–2 years of related lab experience.

Responsibilities include patient-facing service, instrument operation, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. This is a 100% career appointment with variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be a certified Phlebotomist and hold a valid California Phlebotomy license (CPT).
• 1-2 years of lab experience in a large healthcare system preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of scientific terminology and laboratory regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen processing, accessioning, phlebotomy, heel and finger sticks.
• Provides customer service and clerical support; maintains accurate records.
• Operates instruments and performs preventive maintenance as appropriate to section.
• Maintains safe work environment and follows safety standards; handles specimen storage and disposal.
