Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Medical Partners in Nashville, TN, seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support automated dispensing, inventory management, and patient services in the Pharmacy Services department.

You’ll work under pharmacists to ensure accurate compounding, regulatory compliance, and timely medication access, with licensure requirements and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy required within 3 months of hire date.
• Certification options: National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) credentials prior to hire date.
• Education: High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience; licensure can be used in lieu of education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Proactively maintain automated dispensing systems to ensure secure medication access for clinical units.
• Accurately prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds and repackage medications following safety standards.
• Oversee inventory, receive supplies, and ensure stock meets regulatory storage requirements.
• Serve as a primary contact, triaging inquiries and providing information to patients and healthcare professionals.
• Partner with Pharmacists to deliver distributive services and maintain departmental integrity.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Proactively maintain automated dispensing systems to ensure seamless, secure medication access for clinical units.
• Accurately prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds and repackage medications according to strict CPhT safety standards.
• Manage the pharmacy’s lifeblood by overseeing inventory, receiving supplies, and ensuring all stock meets regulatory storage requirements.
• Serve as a primary point of contact, triaging complex inquiries and providing vital information to patients and healthcare professionals.
• Partner with Pharmacists to deliver high-level distributive services and maintain the technical integrity of the pharmacy department.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Pharmacy students actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy are not required to have certification/registration.

And One Or More Of The Following Required

• Certified Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Pharmacy students actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy are not required to have certification/registration.
• Certified Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Pharmacy students actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy are not required to have certification/registration.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
