Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care – North Liberty Campus Pharmacy is seeking a 100% Certified Pharmacy Technician or Trainee to assist with medication distribution and control for outpatient and clinic dispensing. Under supervision, you will participate in inventory maintenance, secure handling of controlled substances, and preparation of sterile products while ensuring accuracy and patient safety.

Qualifications include active Iowa Pharmacy Board registration and national certification (PTCB/NHA).

Qualifications

• Must have current Pharmacy Board registration at time of hire.
• National certification (PTCB or NHA) with ongoing education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain satellite inventory and dispensing area stock, including emergency supplies.
• Review and manage medication inventory for expirations.
• Prepare and label medications; document activities and print discharge lists.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas and retrieve unused meds.
• Ensure medication security in patient care areas and proper storage of controlled substances.
• Document and maintain records related to medication distribution and dispensing.
