Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care – North Liberty Campus is seeking a 100%, Pharmacy Technician, Certified to support outpatient and clinic dispensing. Under general supervision, you will assist with drug distribution, inventory control, and sterile compounding in a modern facility.

Responsibilities include maintaining controlled substance security, operating automated dispensing systems, training technician staff, and delivering medications to patient care areas.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Pharmacy Board at the time of hire.
• National certification through PTCB or NHA; must maintain ongoing education.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of post-high school science experience or completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program.
• Ability to calculate ratios and proportions for pharmaceutical needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform inventory maintenance in satellites and dispensing areas.
• Review inventory for expired medications and adjust par levels.
• Prepare and package medications, print labels, and document activities.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas and return unused meds.
• Maintain security for controlled substances and conduct daily inventories.
• Operate automated dispensing equipment and ensure aseptic technique.
• Assist with on-the-job training of pharmacy students and new technicians.
• Complete monthly inspections of patient care areas.
