Job summary

Behavioral Health Solutions is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery-oriented support within nursing facilities. You will draw on your lived experience to empower individuals, promote self-determination, and advocate for their needs. CPSS certification is required.

Responsibilities include mentoring, coordinating with clinical staff, leading peer groups, and maintaining compliant documentation. Willingness to travel to assigned nursing facilities is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a peer support specialist training program.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience providing peer support services in a behavioral health or related setting preferred.
• CPSS certification by the Washington Health Care Authority (HCA) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals in behavioral health services, promoting self-determination and recovery goals.
• Empathize, validate, and connect with individuals navigating mental health or substance use challenges.
• Foster a supportive, non-judgmental environment for disclosure and recovery exploration.
• Help individuals develop coping skills and strategies to manage symptoms and achieve personal goals.
• Advocate for rights and preferences of individuals in treatment and coordinate care with clinical staff.
• Collaborate with the treatment team to support overall well-being of those served.
• Facilitate peer-led groups, workshops, and educational sessions to promote recovery.
• Document peer support activities in assessments, treatment plans, and notes, ensuring confidentiality.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations governing peer support services.
