Job summary

Behavioral Health Solutions, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Peer Support Specialist to empower individuals through lived experience, mentorship, and recovery-focused advocacy within behavioral health services.

You will travel to nursing facilities as needed, collaborate with clinical staff, and support residents on their recovery journey. A CPSS certification by WA HCA and a high school diploma with training are required to join our team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a peer support specialist training program.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience providing peer support services in a behavioral health or related setting preferred.
• Certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) by the Washington Health Care Authority (HCA) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals receiving behavioral health services.
• Utilize your own lived experience to empathize, validate, and connect with individuals navigating mental health or substance use challenges.
• Foster a supportive and non-judgmental environment where individuals feel safe to share their experiences.
• Assist individuals in developing coping skills, problem-solving techniques, and strategies for managing symptoms and achieving personal goals.
• Advocate for the rights and preferences of individuals receiving services, ensuring their voices are heard within the treatment process.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care and support overall well-being of individuals served.
• Facilitate peer-led support groups, workshops, and educational sessions to enhance community engagement.
• Maintain documentation of peer support activities and interactions, including assessments and progress notes.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations governing peer support services.
• Adhere to company policies and participate in required trainings and audits.
