Job summary

Mercy in Missouri is seeking a Registered Occupational Therapist Assistant to assist with patient assessments, documentation, and implementation of therapy plans under supervision. The role covers a broad age range from neonatal to geriatric and requires current BLS certification.

Education must be from an accredited OTA program with licensure eligibility in the state. Experience is preferred, but new graduates are welcome.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.
• BLS certification must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient under supervision from O.T.R./L. and according to departmental policies.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient.
• Promote education within the department.
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups (neonatal to geriatric).
• Perform miscellaneous duties observed as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
