Job summary

Mercy in Missouri seeks a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Inpatient Physical Medicine team. You will assist with initial patient assessments, document care, and administer modalities and exercise programs tailored to diverse age groups including neonatal to geriatric patients.

Must have OTA program credentials and a current or eligible state license, with BLS certification. One year of experience is preferred but new graduates are welcome to apply; supervision is provided

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OTA program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• One year experience preferred but will consider new graduates.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient under direction from O.T.R./L and per policies.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and continuing need for treatment.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per policies and standards.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records according to documentation and charging policies.
• Participate in promoting education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of needs and behaviors of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Perform miscellaneous duties observed as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
