Job summary

Ascension is seeking an experienced nurse practitioner or certified nurse-midwife to join a busy outpatient OB/GYN clinic in Wisconsin. You will provide comprehensive care, perform assessments, order tests, and coordinate with physicians to expand primary care services.

This role includes extensive patient education and preventive health services. Qualifications include an RN license in Wisconsin, BLS, and CNM/NP credentials, with a Master's/doctorate in nursing or midwifery as required.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire date.
• RN credentialed by Wisconsin Board of Nursing prior to hire.
• MWP or NP credential(s) from Wisconsin prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient OB/GYN nursing care in a fast-paced clinic.
• Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions.
• Obtain histories, perform exams and order/interpret tests.
• Educate patients on preventive care, immunizations and wellness.
• Coordinate care with physicians and specialists for referrals.
• Maintain accurate documentation per policy and standards.

Location: Racine & Greater Milwaukee

Facility Name: All Saints, Franklin, Elmbrook, St. Joe's, St. Francis, N. 117th, Tosa (float to multiple locations)

Schedule: PRN

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Setting: Outpatient OB/GYN clinic
• Schedule: PRN: 8-hour shifts, 8:00 AMâ4:30 PM
• Weekends: No weekends
• Call: No call responsibilities
• Extended Hours: No evenings or extended clinic hours
• Patient Volume: Approximately 18â25 patients per day
• Appointment Length: 15- and 30-minute appointments
• Practice Pace: Very fast-paced and busy
• Patient Population: Unique and diverse patient population
• Patient Mix: Strong combination of OB and GYN care
• Practice Environment: Busy, collaborative outpatient clinic with a varied patient population
• Collaborate with physicians to expand individualized primary healthcare services.
• Diagnose and treat a variety of acute and chronic health conditions.
• Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform assessments through observation, interviews, and physical examinations.
• Order, perform, and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies and laboratory testing.
• Provide preventive healthcare services, including:
  • Health assessments and screenings
  • Immunizations
  • Preventive counseling
  • Ongoing patient care and health maintenance
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
• Provide direct treatment and management of health conditions, including appropriate referrals to healthcare providers and community resources.
• Counsel and educate patients and their families/caregivers regarding:
  • Preventive health and wellness
  • Treatment options
  • Disease management
  • Available community resources
• Coordinate care with physicians, specialists, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and nursing processes in accordance with specialty-specific standards and network nursing policies.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Nurse Midwife credentialed from the Wisconsin Midwives Advisory Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Master's or Doctorate of Science in Nursing or Midwifery or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
