Job summary

Good Samaritan in Canistota, SD seeks a Medication Assistant (MA) to provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse. You will document care activities, monitor vital signs, and support comfort and safety in line with the plan of care.

Responsibilities include administering medications as delegated, assisting with mobility and meals, and communicating changes to the charge nurse.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum age 18; prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Must complete annual competency testing and 12 hours CE per year; maintain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance.
• Take and record vital signs; monitor patient condition.
• Assist with activities of daily living and mobility; use transfer techniques.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by licensed nurse.
• Document care outcomes, medications, behavior and diet; report changes to charge nurse.
• Assist with meals, dining experiences, and wellness activities.
• Support housekeeping and laundry; participate in programs as needed.
