Job summary

Good Samaritan in Canistota, SD is seeking a Medication Assistant to provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse. The role includes administering medications delegated by a licensed nurse, documenting outcomes, and supporting dining, personal care, and wellness activities.

The MA will work a day shift, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, with 40 hours per week and every other weekend/holiday rotations; experience in long-term care is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum age of 18 preferred.
• Annual continuing education credits required; 12 hours annually where applicable.
• State CMA/CNA certifications required (varies by state).
• Active CNA registration or ability to obtain within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under charge nurse supervision.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Document care outcomes, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary info.
• Communicate changes in resident condition and care needs to the charge nurse.
• Assist residents with meals, daily living activities, and personal care.
• Support wellness and recreational programs and participate in committees as needed.
