Responsibilities

The Certified Medical Assistant assists in providing clinical care to patients under supervision and offers clerical support. Specific duties include:

• Preparing exam and treatment rooms, supplies, and instruments.
• Assisting patients in preparation for physician visits and examinations.
• Measuring and recording vital signs.
• Understanding the proper use and care of specialized equipment.
• Performing procedures such as EKG, PFT, Audiometry, Titmus Test, UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other labs after training.
• Maintaining accurate records and reports.
• Supporting billing and collection procedures.
• Using computer software for office systems.
• Maintaining confidentiality and adapting care to meet diverse patient needs.
• Performing additional duties as assigned.
• Adhering to organizational standards and standards of behavior.
• Physical requirements include lifting at least 5 lbs., pushing/pulling at least 10 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 6 hours daily.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry.

Preferred:

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent certification.
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (BLS) certification.
