Certified Medical Assistant
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under physician supervision. They collaborate with the care team to ensure smooth practice operations and excellent patient care. The role may involve clerical, administrative, or clinical tasks, including specialized duties.
Principal Accountabilities: (including but not limited to):
- Handle patient intake, update medical records, and administer screening tools.
- Record medical information, conduct patient interviews, take vital signs, collect specimens, and administer medication under supervision.
- Assist with clinic visits, verify and record data, and ensure quality standards.
- Guide patients through the healthcare system and assist with appointment scheduling.
- Take vital signs to establish baseline measurements.
- Assist with examinations and clinical tasks alongside physicians.
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples, instruct patients on sample collection, or draw blood.
- Maintain excellent communication, work ethic, active listening, adaptability, and professionalism. Strong written and verbal skills are essential.
- Greet patients and organize appointments.
- Maintain accurate medical records in the computer system.
- Sanitize and reorganize patient rooms between visits.
- Prepare examination rooms, disinfect equipment, and stock supplies.
- Provide emotional support according to the patient's care plan.
- Assist with patient referrals to specialists.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Schedule:
- Full-time, Days
- Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5 pm
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- National Certification (CCMA) from NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
- If expired or in process, a precertification agreement must be signed within 60 days of employment.
Preferred:
- Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
- At least 1 year of healthcare experience.
- 2+ years experience in outpatient or ambulatory settings.
- Excellent communication, work ethic, active listening, adaptability, and professionalism.
- BLS certification upon hire.
- Experience with EPIC or similar EMR systems.
- Proficiency in computer systems.
