Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to support physicians and the clinical team in delivering patient care. The CMA will prepare exam rooms, assist with procedures, collect specimens, and help maintain chart accuracy and compliance with privacy standards.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer literacy required, with intermediate Excel skills.
• Ability to react calmly in emergencies.
• Tuberculosis screening and immunity verification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties within Medical Assistant scope of practice.
• Operates diagnostic equipment and collects specimens.
• Rooms patients and prepares for examination.
• Maintains accurate patient care documentation.
• Coordinates patient care per physician directions and policies.
• Maintains infection control and privacy standards.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
