Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support patient care in a clinic setting. The CMA assists physicians and nursing staff, prepares exam rooms, collects specimens, administers non-intravenous meds, and performs EKGs, venipuncture, and wound care under supervision.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, national CMA certification (or be able to obtain within 180 days), and a current BLS certificate.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED; CMA certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• Current BLS certification at hire or within 30 days; knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proven ability to react calmly in emergencies and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs CMA duties within scope of practice under supervision.
• Operates/assists with diagnostic equipment, collects specimens, and prepares rooms.
• Records documentation accurately and timely in medical records.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and standards.
• Respects patient confidentiality and provides quality customer service.
