Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to support patient care in a clinical setting. You will assist physicians and nursing staff, manage rooms, and ensure proper documentation and infection control.

Required: high school diploma or GED, MA certification (or within 180 days), BLS, medical terminology knowledge, and basic computer skills. TB screening and immunization proof are required.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 180 days of employment.
  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers (written exam and in-person assessment) at time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to stay calm and effective in emergencies.
  • Proven good communication and customer service skills.
  • Tuberculosis screening and immunity proof required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's practice and operates diagnostic equipment.
  • Rooms patients for examination and prepares for care.
  • Records patient care documentation accurately in the medical record.
  • Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and policies.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and respectful service.
  • Organizes exam/treatment rooms and sterilizes equipment.
  • Follows infection control precautions and gowning procedures.
  • Screening intake information and supports delegation of orders.
