Job summary

Ascension seeks a Medical Assistant for our OB/GYN clinic in Anderson, IN. This full-time, day-shift role supports providers with patient prep, clerical tasks, and basic clinical duties.

You will interview patients, measure vitals, prepare treatment rooms, and document encounters. Responsibilities include maintaining supplies and a clean, efficient practice environment. Education and certification requirements apply.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 1 month (hire date or transfer date).
• Medical Assistant certification or registration within 3 months (hire date or transfer date).
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of job-specific experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or RN.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination.
• Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Perform basic materials management to include ordering and stocking supplies; maintain a clean environment.
• Document provider encounters; list diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.
• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
• May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Certified or Registered both accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
