Job summary

Ascension Medical Group in Anderson, IN is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a primary care clinic. This full-time, day-shift role runs Monday through Thursday, 7am–5pm, in a clinical setting with patient contact and administrative duties.

You will assist providers, take vital signs, prepare rooms, handle basic clerical tasks, and help document patient encounters. Strong eligibility for certification and credential timelines is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of relevant job experience required.
• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire date; certification accepted by AHA or ARC.
• Medical Assistant credential or registration within 90 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assists with treatments ordered by provider under supervision; performs select clinical duties.
• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, records data in charts; prepares exam rooms.
• Performs basic clerical duties (answering phones, filing, records maintenance).
• Manages supplies – orders, stocking, and cleaning to maintain a safe environment.
• Transcribes orders (labs, radiology, medications) as directed by the provider.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.
• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
• May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Certified or Registered both accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
