Job summary

Ascension 117th Street Clinic in Milwaukee seeks a Medical Assistant for the OBGYN department. You will assist physicians and nurses with patient examinations, record medical history, measure vital signs, prepare rooms, and stock supplies while handling basic clerical duties.

The role requires BLS within 30 days of hire and an MA credential from NHA/AMT/NCCT/AAMA or a high school equivalency with related experience. Equal opportunity employer.

• One or more MA credentials accepted: NHA, AMT, NCCT or AAMA.
• High School equivalency or 1 year related experience required.
• Professional licensure/certification can substitute education/experience.

• Assist physicians and nurses with patient examinations, treatments, and specialized clinical duties.
• Interview patients to record medical history and accurately measure vital signs for charting.
• Prepare and sanitize treatment rooms while ensuring all medical supplies are ordered and stocked.
• Manage essential clerical tasks, including phone correspondence, record maintenance, and filing.

What minimum qualifications you’ll need

Licensure /Certification/Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association OR American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Registered Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Registry of Medical Assistants also accepted.
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences:

• 40 hours a week | M-F | No weekends or major holidays
• Prior OBGYN/Women's Health experience preferred
