Ascension is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Breast Care Service in Kokomo, IN. The role supports providers with treatments, takes patient histories, and performs routine clerical duties as part of a preventive cancer care team.

You will travel to Carmel, Fishers, and Naab Rd locations while supporting patient care in a fast-paced environment at St. Vincent Medical Group.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
• Medical Assistant credential within 90 days of hire.
• Education or experience may be used in lieu of licensure where applicable.

Responsabilités

• Assist with treatments ordered by provider under supervision by provider or RN.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and document information.
• Perform basic clerical duties including answering phones and filing.
• Manage supplies, maintain a clean and orderly environment.
• Document provider encounters and transcribe orders and prescriptions as indicated.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.
• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
• May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Certified or Registered both accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
