Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our clinical team in El Paso, Texas. The CMA provides patient care under supervision, supports physicians and nursing staff, performs routine procedures, and ensures infection control and patient confidentiality.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, current CMA certification or ability to obtain within 180 days, BLS certification, medical terminology knowledge, basic computer skills

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Current, nationally recognized CMA certification or the ability to obtain within 180 days.
  • Current BLS certification at time of hire or within 30 days.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to remain calm and communicate clearly in emergencies.
  • TB screening and immunity proof for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's practice and operates diagnostic equipment.
  • Rooms patients, prepares for examinations, and documents patient care accurately.
  • Coordinates patient care with physicians and clinical staff.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and provides quality customer service.
  • Supports Standard Delegation of Orders and other duties as assigned.
