Job summary

Southcoast Health in Dartmouth, MA is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our Family Medicine team. This full-time position supports providers, assists with patient flow, and uses EMR to update records.

The ideal candidate has completed a Medical Assistant program, is BLS certified, and can interpret in languages other than English. A $3,500 new hire signing bonus is offered; schedule is day shift, 7:30am–4:00pm; 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Equal to completion of four years of high school or equivalent plus specialized courses and training.
• National third-party certification, such as AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCMA (NHA certification), or NCMA (NCCT certification) is required within thirteen (13) months of hire as a non-certified Medical Assistant.
• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, or equivalent medical office practice experience, is required.
• BLS certification is also required.
• Prior experience in using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or health-related computer software is preferred.
• One (1) year of medical assistance work experience is preferred.
• Fluent in a language other than English and Medical Interpreting is preferred.
• Other certifications, based on practice specialty may be preferred.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Office Manager, Clinical Coordinator or designee; assists providers with patient care and procedures.
• Facilitates efficient flow of patients through the clinic or medical office and handles phone communication with patients.
• Maintains patient privacy and uses EMR to update and access patient information while ensuring confidentiality.
• Provides medical interpretation when needed for the practice office.
