The State of Maine Judicial Branch is seeking certified law enforcement officers for the position of Deputy Judicial Marshal in Augusta. The role focuses on courthouse security for judges, staff, and the public, with a full-time schedule and strong emphasis on work-life balance.

Starting pay ranges from $25.72 to $27.03 per hour, with Grade 12 rates up to $34.88 per hour including a geographical cost of living stipend. The Branch offers extensive benefits and a focus on safety and service.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Successful completion of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Pre-Service Law Enforcement Training program is required.
• Sponsor consideration available if candidate is viable pending interview/oral board.
• Ability to interact effectively with judges/justice, court staff, attorneys, and the public.
• Eligible for certification as a Judicial Marshal through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy or complete required program within one year.
• Must have qualified with an agency-issued firearm per policy and academy standards.

Responsabilidades

• Serves as Judicial Marshal for the court and provides security for each court day.
• Enforces Maine laws within the courthouse; can effect arrests and monitor surveillance.
• Observes all persons entering the courtroom and their movements.
• Assist with paperwork flow between judge, clerk, defendants, and participants; move evidence as needed.
• Patrols and maintains presence in public areas of court facilities.
• Announces opening, recess, and closing of court sessions.
• Directs people to locations and provides information on schedules and proceedings.
• Ensures parties are present and ready for the judge's entrance.
• Maintain annual training, CPR/First Aid, firearms qualifications, and other requirements.
• Responsible for courthouse safety and emergency response.
