Job summary

Mercy Health in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Surgical Technologist to facilitate operative procedures by preparing sterile instruments and maintaining the sterile field. You will assist the surgical team, perform counts, and help with specimen handling while ensuring patient safety and aseptic technique.

The role requires an Associates degree or equivalent in Surgical Technology and CST/NBSTA/TS-C/NCCT certification with BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent in Surgical Technology.
• Certification required: CST, NBSTA or TS-C or NCCT.
• BLS certification preferred at hire.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person and assists during operative and invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment.
• Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instruments and performs surgical counts with the circulating RN.
• Maintains an organized sterile field and ensures sterility; assists with draping and provides instruments to the surgical team.
• Retrieves and labels specimens accurately and reports implanted devices, catheters, drains, and packing.
• Assists in patient preparation and anticipates needs; supports patient rights and directives awareness.
