Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services in Texas seeks hardworking Helpers with field experience to locate reference points, align boiler frames, and assist in fabricating and repairing boilers and tanks. The role includes reading instructions, following safety procedures, operating tools, and coordinating with crane operators.

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, with experience in related fields. You will work at heights and perform various maintenance tasks, including welding, cutting,

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent with field experience or related area.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation.
• Knowledge of basic shop mathematics and measuring.
• Follows pre-established guidelines and reports to supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Locates and marks reference points for columns or plates on foundation and uses geometry.
• Attaches rigging or signals crane operator to lift components.
• Aligns structures or plates to assemble boilers, tanks or vats using plumb bobs and levels.
• Hammers, flame-cuts, files and grinds edges for fitting.
• Welds or bolts structures and sections together.
• Positions drums and headers into supports and bolts or welds to frame.
• Aligns water tubes and connects ends using a tube expander.
• Welds and bolts casing sections, uptakes and related fabricated parts to frame.
• Installs manholes, valves, gauges and water connections in drums.
• Signals crane operator during lifts.
• Assists in testing vessels by pumping water or gas and observing for leaks.
• Repairs boilers or tanks in the field and replaces worn sections.
• May feel and caulk sections with pneumatic tools; may line firebox with refractory brick.
• Fabricates parts to adapt boiler to installed premises.
• Can perform flame-cutting and torch work.
• Ensures safety and project rules compliance; performs other duties as required.
