Job summary

University of California, Irvine Health is seeking a Central Sterile Tech to decontaminate, clean, process and sterilize supplies for the hospital and ambulatory centers. The role includes charging, logging and patient charge entries for the OR, plus daily biological testing.

This is a fast-paced healthcare setting requiring certification and flexibility. The position supports ongoing performance improvement initiatives and collaborates across departments to ensure sterile processing standards

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited school of Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology or 18 months relevant Sterile Processing experience
• Knowledge and practice of infectious control techniques and medical terminology
• Current full CRCST or CSPDT certification. Must maintain certification by taking CEUs and renewing certification.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

• The Central Sterile Tech is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department throughout the hospital and outlying clinics.
• Will also perform charging, billing and logging of service as well as patient charges for the OR.
• Performs daily biological testing.
• Participates on special projects and departmental and medical center-wide performance improvement projects as requested
