Job summary

University of California, Irvine (UCI Health) seeks a Central Sterile Technician responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies used across hospital and outpatient settings. The role includes charging, billing, and logging of services, plus daily biological testing.

The technician will participate in improvement projects and must be able to float among UCI Health locations as needed, supporting multiple campuses and ORs.

Qualifications

• Accredited school of Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology or 18 months relevant Sterile Processing experience.
• Must float between all UCI Health locations as needed.
• Knowledge and practice of infectious control techniques and medical terminology.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Preferred: demonstrated experience working in a fast paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, process, and sterilize supplies and equipment.
• Charge, bill, and log service as well as patient charges for the OR.
• Perform daily biological testing.
• Participate in special projects and department- and medical center-wide performance improvement initiatives.
• Float between UCI Health locations as needed.
