Job summary

Penn Medicine is a premier academic medical center dedicated to patient care, research and education. This role supports the Maternal-Fetal Medicine division by handling scheduling, registration, and access to services, ensuring smooth patient visits and compliant workflows.

You will interact with patients, verify insurance, collect co-pays, and coordinate with clinical staff to expedite services, contributing to high-quality obstetric care and patient experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Coding or Medical Terminology certification preferred.
• Knowledge of government reimbursement and commercial/managed care insurance regulations.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, pre-registration, and pre-authorization prior to patient visits.
• Answers inbound calls professionally and schedules appointments.
• Retrieves messages from the answering service and returns calls within 24 hours.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and identifies patients needing financial counseling.
• Responsible for adding HAR to patients’ account and scanning documents in On-Base.
• Works with staff to confirm and expedite scheduling of services and registration processes.
• Schedule follow-up appointments at checkout.
