Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Central Energy Plant Manager to oversee multi-site energy operations, maintenance, and team leadership. You will mentor the owner on energy strategies, coordinate EPC activities, and ensure compliance with building codes and industry standards across the facility portfolio.

The role emphasizes training Plant Operators, developing operating manuals, and optimizing energy usage while managing subcontractors and asset teams. Travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• 4+ years managing multiple sites or central plant roles
• Well versed in building codes and associated standards
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented and able to tackle multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with industry competitors and market landscape
• Ability to multitask and perform duties beyond the scope when needed
• 10–25% travel to job sites/office location
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps, and poles
• Preferred: ABET-accredited 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree
• Preferred: PE or FE and working toward PE

Responsibilities

• Review facility energy usage daily and provide guidance, best practices, and operational modifications
• Mentor the owner on energy strategies
• Manage Central Energy Plant operations and maintenance, including subcontractors, operators, and internal service providers
• Manage Central Energy Plant maintenance reserve accounts
• Work with operators to ensure efficient plant operation
• Provide ongoing training for Plant Operators
• Develop and maintain the Plant Operating Manual
• Assist the EPC team with coordinating engineering, procurement, and construction activities with OMC operations
• Coordinate on-site troubleshooting and diagnostic efforts with remote support services
• Manage one or multiple teams consisting of one or more Asset Managers
