Job summary

SpartanNash, a food solutions company, seeks a department lead to manage daily store operations and ensure staffing, training, and KPI achievement. You will oversee inventory, scheduling, and execution of plans across the department while maintaining product quality and safety standards.

You will work with a team to optimize stocking, pricing, and promotions, supporting the department manager in performance management, forecasting, and employee development.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate (Required) or Equivalent (GED).
• 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
• Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
• Good knowledge of retail store operations; knowledge of retail management systems.
• Suggestive Selling/Knowledge of Products preferred.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Depending on company location, ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Order and maintain inventory in the department, minimize loss, and ensure product freshness.
• Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count or weight.
• Lead a team to complete stocking, production, and related tasks and handle spoiled/damaged products.
• Maintain familiarity with all products in the department and store.
• Know ad items, special prices, coupons, and rewards program features.
• Communicate and execute Flight Plans to company expectations and timelines.
• Use tools to manage scheduling, forecasting, and payroll expenses for the department.
• Support the department manager in staffing, training, performance management, and development.
