Job summary

SpartanNash in the United States is seeking a Department Lead to manage daily store operations in the absence of the department manager. You will train associates, maintain staffing, and drive KPIs while upholding food safety and guest-experience standards.

The role requires strong leadership, inventory control, and hands-on supervision of stocking, production, and scheduling in a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication and bookkeeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day department operations in the store in the absence of the manager.
• Order and maintain inventory, ensure freshness and quality, minimize loss.
• Review received orders and ensure proper storage and condition of products.
• Direct a team to complete stocking, production, and tasks to meet goals and KPIs.
• Manage scheduling, labor control, overtime, and payroll expense for the department.
• Ensure adherence to food safety, safety guidelines, and guest experience standards.
• Participate in daily huddles and meetings; support forecasting and department goals.
