Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is hiring for a Commercial Waste Collection Driver in Gainesville, FL.

The role involves operating frontload or ancillary waste collection equipment along designated routes, loading waste at transfer facilities, and interacting with customers along the way. The position requires a valid CDL and at least one year of commercial driving experience, with strong safety awareness and the ability to operate heavy vehicles and equipment safely.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Minimum of one (1) year commercial truck driving experience OR CDL school certificate
• Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment

Responsibilities

• Drive frontload or ancillary waste collection equipment along designated routes.
• Open containers and position cans for dumping; ensure safe handling of waste.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and submit vehicle reports.
• Interact courteously with customers along the route and report issues to management
• Maintain cleanliness around truck and work site; pick up loose debris as needed
• Maintain logs and route/productivity sheets as required by law or policy
• Maneuver truck in tight spaces using mirrors; back up as needed
• Use maps and GPS to locate service addresses
• Follow all safety procedures and company rules on safety and vehicle operation
• Follow all safety standards and perform any other duties as assigned
