Job summary

WM (Waste Management) in Winston-Salem, NC seeks a CDL driver to operate commercial vehicles in compliance with safety, OSHA, and DOT rules. You will perform routine vehicle inspections, report issues, and support route efficiency improvements while maintaining clean, debris-free customer sites.

This role requires a CDL with air-brake endorsement, English proficiency, and completion of pre-employment screenings. Training and progression opportunities are emphasized by WM.

Qualifications

• 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL.
• 1 year equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work.
• Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public.
• Successfully complete pre-employment screening, including drug screen and physical.
• CDL Class A with an air-brake endorsement or CDL Class B with an air-brake endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Operates vehicle in accordance with Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections and documents checks.
• Reports unsafe situations or service-related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
• Attends and participates in all required training programs and meetings.
• Works with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
• Notifies Operations Manager of incidents, accidents or safety hazards.
• Notifies of service interruptions including blocked streets or heavy receptacles.
• Communicates customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
• Completes end-of-day documentation and check-out process.
• Assists other drivers as needed to meet customer needs.
