Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations and deliver freight between service centers and turn-point locations. Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, safe driving, and maintaining daily logs, with potential night shifts.

You will comply with hazmat regulations, DOT rules, and coordinate with Dispatch on delays or incidents while delivering professional customer service. A CDL is required.

Qualifications

• CDL/CLP required prior to entering job classification.
• MVR acceptable based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT/391 regulatory requirements.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down trailer sets requiring lift.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, arrivals, or equipment problems.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding requirements.
• Provide internal/external customer service.
• Perform city driver or freight handler duties when needed.
• Handle freight with forklift, pallet jack, or hand truck.
• Chain tires as required.
• Follow laws and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
