Job summary

Republic Services is looking for a Driver Trainee to join our training program in the United States. The role focuses on obtaining a commercial driver’s license (CDL) through a comprehensive program, after which the trainee will transition into a Driver role across Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off operations.

The program includes classroom study, on-route training and resources necessary to pass the CDL exam, with a one-year employment commitment after obtaining the CDL.

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Complete Republic Services' CDL training program, including classroom study and on-route driving experience.
• Maintain vehicle readiness: perform pre- and post-operation inspections and report safety issues.
• Safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route to the disposal site and service customers.
• Learn to operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of material at the facility.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers as required.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable material and ensure truck readiness to minimize downtime.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• After CDL is obtained, perform Driver duties in Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off lines.
