Job summary

Republic Services offers a Driver Trainee program designed to train individuals to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL). Trainees complete a comprehensive training program with classroom study, on-route training, and hands-on experience, including the loan of a truck to prepare for the CDL examination.

Upon earning the CDL, the employee transitions to a Driver role across Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off lines of business and will maintain duties for at least twelve months.

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers’ license.

Responsibilities

• Complete CDL training program including classroom study, on-route training and driving experience.
• Possess the resources to take the CDL examination.
• After CDL is obtained, perform driver responsibilities in one of Republic Services’ lines of business.
• Continue employment for twelve months after obtaining CDL.
• Conduct pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections and report safety issues.
