Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Driver Trainee who will be trained to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and then advance to a Driver in a variety of lines of business, including Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off.

The program includes classroom study, on-route training, and the resources necessary to take the CDL examination. After completion, the incumbent will be moved into a Driver position and complete twelve months of employment with the company.

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers’ license.

Responsibilities

• Complete CDL training program with classroom study, on-route training, driving experience, and resources to take the CDL exam.
• Complete twelve (12) months of employment after obtaining a CDL.
• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of the assigned vehicle.
• Safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and service each customer as identified on the route sheet.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, and dispose of material at the designated facility.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers according to procedures.
• Continuously monitor waste for unacceptable material.
• Ensure the vehicle is operationally ready and clean on each disposal trip.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• After CDL, perform all Driver responsibilities in one of the company lines of business.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
