Job summary

Republic Services is offering a Driver Trainee program in which you will be trained to obtain a CDL and then transition to a Driver role in Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off lines of business. The program includes classroom instruction, hands-on driving experience, and support including a vehicle loan to help you pass the CDL examination.

Upon successful CDL attainment, you will continue in a Driver role across the company’s service lines, with a comprehensive training emphasis on

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers’ license.
• Twelve months of employment after CDL obtained.

Responsibilities

• Complete CDL training program including classroom study, on-route training, driving experience and loan of a truck.
• Maintain safety: perform pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections and report issues.
• Drive heavy or commercial truck along designated routes and service customers.
• Operate truck controls to load refuse and dispose of material at facilities.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag accordingly.
• Monitor waste quality and vehicle condition to minimize downtime.
• After CDL, perform duties of a Driver in one of Republic Services’ lines of business.
