Job summary

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking a CDL Operator to support highway and bridge maintenance across the Commonwealth. This is a full-time, day-shift position with no telework option. Starting salary is $45,888 per year, with requirements including active CDL with appropriate endorsements and certifications, and

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title) or
• Graduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School
• An equivalent combination of experience and training

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders, and other highway maintenance equipment
• Perform flagging responsibilities for safe traffic movement when not operating equipment
• Complete tasks such as cleaning culverts, cutting brush, erecting signs, and repairing guiderails
• Select and use motorized and non-motorized tools properly for various maintenance needs
• Conduct pre and post operation checks, perform minor repairs, and document maintenance activities
• Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and support a safe environment for coworkers and the public
