Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking a PennDOT CDL Operator to keep highways and bridges safe by operating trucks and maintenance equipment. The role includes safety inspections, flagging traffic, and performing field labor to maintain clear, reliable roadways for travelers.

The position is full-time with a 7:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule, Monday through Friday, plus possible travel and overtime based on seasonal needs.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee program or an equivalent Federal Government title.
• Graduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders, and other highway/bridge maintenance machinery.
• Perform daily safety inspections and record findings.
• Flag traffic and guide drivers through active work areas.
• Conduct field labor using hand and power tools to clear debris and repair guiderails.
• Perform routine servicing and minor repairs to equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and report hazards to maintain a safe work environment.
