Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's PennDOT is seeking a CDL Operator A to operate trucks and loaders, support roadway and bridge maintenance, and assist highway crews in daily tasks at the Bucks County worksite.

You will hold a valid PA CDL, stay current with required certifications, perform equipment inspections, and contribute to environmental and traffic-control duties. This full-time position runs 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with no telework option.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program; or Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• All permanent employees must obtain active CDL certifications and two additional construction equipment endorsements within the probationary period.
• Active Pennsylvania Class A or B CDL with Air Brake Restriction removed is required.
• Active Medical Examiner's Certificate per FMCSA regulations is required.
• Possession of Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) during probation and maintained thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders and other required machinery for maintenance work.
• Maintain required CDL credentials and perform daily checks on equipment.
• Perform flagging duties to guide traffic when equipment is not operated.
• Use tools for maintenance tasks such as cleaning culverts, cutting brush, and repairing barriers.
• Make field adjustments, perform minor repairs and assist mechanics with equipment.
• Follow safety procedures, observe hazards, report accidents and use protective gear.
• Implement environmental protection requirements for maintenance activities.
