Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a PennDOT CDL Operator A in Perry County to operate trucks and maintenance equipment in support of safe roads and bridge operations. This role serves the local community with steady hours and a focus on safety, reliability, and public service.

Applicants must hold a valid CDL and complete required certifications; two additional equipment endorsements must be obtained during probation. Telework is not available. Salary is competitive within the state pay scale.

Qualifications

Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program or equivalent.
Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School or equivalent training.
An equivalent combination of experience and training as determined by leadership.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks, loaders and other construction and maintenance machinery.
Maintain CDL credentials and complete required equipment certifications.
Perform flagger duties to support safe work zones and traffic flow.
Use tools to clean culverts, cut vegetation, erect signs and repair guiderails.
Inspect equipment, perform minor repairs and assist mechanics with maintenance.
Follow safety procedures and report hazards to ensure coworker and public safety.
