Job summary

Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking a dedicated Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior to join the team in Omaha. The role involves operating trucks and heavy equipment to maintain highways, installing signs and barriers, patching and sealing surfaces, and performing snow removal as needed.

Minimum qualifications include 18+ and a valid driver’s license; a Class A/B CDL with tanker endorsement is required within 60 days for Senior level.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: CDL with tanker endorsement; experience operating heavy equipment or farming background.
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and light equipment for highway maintenance.
• Operate heavy equipment for highway upkeep and safety.
• Install signs, fences, guardrails, and perform patching/sealing work.
• Perform snow removal and traffic control duties.
• Be on-call during non-scheduled hours and adapt to adverse weather.
