Job summary

Sperry Rail, Inc. in Grand Rapids, MN is hiring a CDL Driver for field-based, highly mobile work across Eastern/Western US. Drive hi-rail trucks and rail-bound detector cars, conduct inspections, collect data, and ensure strict DOT compliance while traveling 3–4 months at a time.

The role requires a valid CDL with air brake endorsement, ability to pass DOT screening, and strong communication skills. Expect overtime, travel and lodging paid by Sperry, and a $1,000 sign-on bonus after 60 days.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A or B with air brake endorsement.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Extensive travel readiness and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively (3–4 months at a time) within assigned regions.
• Operate hi-rail trucks and rail-bound detector cars on roads and tracks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; maintain DOT compliance.
• Support rail flaw detection testing and data collection; monitor onboard data.
• Maintain vehicle and equipment cleanliness and organization.
• Follow DOT/FRA safety policies and wear PPE; complete required training.
